How I can help

What people come with

Anxiety and depression

Persistent worry, low mood, loss of energy or meaning, difficulty functioning day to day.

Life crises and transitions

Relocation, culture shock, loss, separation, burnout, or a period when the ground stops feeling solid.

Relationship difficulties

Recurring patterns in close relationships, loneliness, conflict, difficulty with closeness or trust.

Personality difficulties

In-depth work, including borderline and narcissistic patterns, where the difficulty is long-standing rather than situational.

Living abroad adds its own weight: a new language, distance from family, and a sense that no one quite knows your context. That is a legitimate reason to come.

About me

Jan Brzezicki, MA

I am a psychologist and psychodynamic psychotherapist and I have been working in this profession since 2009. I hold an MA in psychology from the University of Silesia in Katowice and completed a four-year postgraduate psychotherapy training at the Krakow Centre for Psychodynamics.

Most of my experience comes from public healthcare: hospital wards, a long-term care unit, and a mental health centre where I carried out diagnostic assessment and qualification for therapy. Alongside that, I have run this private practice in Chorzów since 2009. I work in English and in Polish.

I do not promise quick results. What I offer is careful, honest work within clear and predictable boundaries. A fuller professional biography is available on the Polish version of this page.

How it works

Starting therapy

We always begin with a consultation: one to three meetings of 90 minutes in which we look at what brings you and decide together what kind of help would actually suit you. It commits you to nothing further.

If we decide to continue, psychotherapy usually means regular sessions, once or twice a week, at a fixed time. In psychodynamic work we look not only at the current difficulty but at the patterns underneath that keep it in place.

Sessions take place in person at the practice in Chorzów. I do not offer online therapy. Everything we discuss is covered by professional confidentiality; the exceptions are narrowly defined by law.

Questions

Before you come

Is your English good enough for therapy?

Yes. I conduct consultations and full, regular psychotherapy in English, and I currently work in English in a Katowice clinic as well.

How do I book a first appointment?

By phone on +48 691 872 416 or by email at janbrz@gmail.com. If I do not pick up, I am in session. I reply within 24 hours on working days.

Where exactly is the practice?

ul. Zjednoczenia 2, 41-500 Chorzów. It is roughly 15 minutes by car or tram from the centre of Katowice, and easy to reach from Bytom, Siemianowice and Ruda Śląska.

Do you offer online sessions?

No. Psychodynamic work of the kind I practise takes place in direct, in-person contact, and I keep to that.

What happens in the first meeting?

It is a conversation about what brings you. You do not need to prepare anything or know in advance how to describe it.
